It is Necessary to Go With a Quality Brand Sealer like Messmers

When shopping for a quality wood sealer for any outdoor wood surface such as a deck, fence, or gazebo you will need to find a reputable seller that is educated in wood restoration. It is not recommended to buy a wood sealer solely based on what the label on the can says. There are too many advertising gimmicks and tricks that sell you on a product that may not be right for you. For example, there are some wood sealers that claim you will get 5 years or more of protection. This is not completely true as anyone that has ever used these products can tell you. Some have even gotten in contact with these companies to express their disappointment and was given some excuse that basically made the company not liable. Any wood restoration professional will tell you that some of the best wood stain to use are like Messmers or any brand that has been around for some time. One of Messmers oil based semi transparent stains is one of the best choices for exterior wood. It will last several years and when it does come time for maintenance again, it is easy to clean and re-apply. Some of the other stains on the market or not good for maintenance, meaning once they do start to show signs of wear, they need to be completely removed before more stain can be applied, they are not maintenance friendly like Messmers. Most people will not go to the lengths of removing the stain and will just add another coat which will start to peel and flake within a year.
