Getting Rid of Bed Bugs

By admin | January 18, 2010

If you are reading this you probably are looking for ways to get rid of bed bugs. And if you have bed bugs, well, I can’t say how sorry I am that you have to go through this most frustrating problem. It can be very difficult to get back on top of your life when you feel that an intimate part of it has been invaded. Nobody should have to continue dealing with bed bugs. As soon as you are aware of the fact that you have bedbugs, you need to get on top of it as soon as possible.

Getting rid of bed bugs is definitely not the easiest thing to do. No matter how much I wish I an tell you to just throw away your mattress and have your home fumigated, I can’t. In reality, how many of us can really afford to just throw away a mattress set that probably cost us over a thousand dollars? Not all of us are in the position that we can just go out and buy a new mattress. Instead, do your best to prevent the problem in the first place. Since bed bugs love places that are commonly used, like hotels, check the furniture. If there are any signs of bugs, don’t stay there. They can get into your luggage and you end up taking them home with you, which is definitely not a good thing.

But what signs can you look for in order to not be faced with the need to get rid of bed bugs. If you are thinking of buying a piece of furniture from a used furniture outlet or if you are checking the furniture in your own home, always look for these signs. The first place you should look is in any creases and along the seams of your mattress. These are the places bed bugs love the most. If you see any mature bed bugs, or even bed bug eggs, you know you have a problem. Also, check your furniture for any blood stains. These are a sure sign you have an infestation.

If you are fortunate enough to be able to buy another mattress, that is the best thing to do to get rid of bed bugs. But if you can’t afford it, like I said before, there are a couple of things you can do to help your situation. First, vacuum your mattress thoroughly and wash all your linens and bedding and clothing in hot water. Then, buy a mattress cover that can be sealed. This should work well to eliminate your problem.
