Over Toilet Storage – a Great Space Saver

By admin | May 17, 2010

Many older houses have small bathrooms with a very small linen closet. Sometimes there is a second bathroom that have no storage space at all. A traditional cabinet may not fit. Simple open shelves can be installed but they often don’t serve the purpose because they are inconvenient for stacking up the towels and linens. Usually there is a space above the toilet that often remains unused. In this case there is a great solution. An over toilet storage cabinet will be great for using up this space and storing the essentials.

There are many models available that will fit any budget and decor. There are simple iron or stainless steel shelving units for those with a small budget. They are very inexpensive and widely available. Usually come with two or three shelves. Colors may be limited to chrome and white but will go well with other colors in the bathroom. Colorful containers and organizers will help keep smaller items and can be part of the decor. Small s-shaped hooks can be used to hang hand towels or small items on front or the sides of the cabinet.

Wooden over the toilet cabinets come in various finishes, such as oak, mahogany, or cherry, and will match the colors and decor a bit better. They are more expensive but look nicer than the iron shelves. They are easier to match with the existing colors. There are options of wooden doors or glass doors. Glass doors come with clear or frosted glass. Some cabinets come with drawers. If there are no drawers, wicker baskets will look great on the toilet shelves and help store items.

Over toilet storage is great for dorm rooms. Dorm bathrooms are usually very small. Installing a storage unit will help organize the bathroom essentials. It is an absolute necessity if the bathroom is shared. The shelves of the cabinet can be assigned to the occupants and make it easier to store the items.

Over toilet storage units are very easy to install. The iron ones do not need any assembly and just straddle the toilet. Wooden units will need a skill of operating a drill but can be easily put together by an amateur. Over toilet cabinet is a great space saver option for any bathroom.
