Entertaining Well with the Right Tables
By admin | March 10, 2010
One of the most important functions of a home, to many people, it its capacity to entertain. In our increasingly fast-paced and disconnected society, having the ability to gather friends and family in the home is very important. Some homes are better suited, in design terms, for entertaining; however, with a little ingenuity, planning, and the right furniture, just about any home can become a happy oasis for refreshment and reconnecting of family members and old friends alike. Two of the most important rooms of the house for entertaining, though often overlooked, are the kitchen and the dining room. To entertain properly in these rooms, you need the right tables, chairs, and stools.
Perhaps nothing is more appealing to a guest than comfortable Bar Stools placed strategically around a kitchen island that is full of great food and appealing drinks. The key is to buy the correct bar stools for your space. First, consider the height of the island or peninsula for which the stools will be used. If you are using stools with backs, then you’ll want to make sure that the backs aren’t high enough to interfere with serving, moving about, or conversation. Another consideration it how the seats of the stools are constructed. A fabric seat will be much more comfortable to a guest than sitting for a long period of time on a wooden stool.
Another important entertaining piece are Dining Room Tables. if you plan to serve an elegant meal, it’s imperative to give the guests somewhere elegant to sit. For most people, the size of the table is dictated by the size of the room. Be sure to leave at least 36 inches for walking around the chairs when they are pushed back from the table. That being said, even in a small room, your dining table can be appealing to your guests. A beautiful centerpiece, together with coordinating, attractive linens, pulls the whole room together and makes guests feel welcome.
In rooms that have a little bit more space, another great entertaining addition is the dining room buffet. This handy piece of furniture can be used for so much. It can hold extra food or drinks, or perhaps can handsomely display a montage of family pictures or colletibles. By buying one with doors, you also allow yourself extra storage for whatever you choose to put in it.
