The Betta is an absolutely gorgeous fish to have as a pet. They require very little maintenance compared to other common pet fish and they have the ability to live in a small amount of water. A common glass of water is actually enough water to keep a Betta fish alive. However, just because it can live in a glass of water, doesn’t mean it should. Every pet deserves the ability to live in a larger environment than a simple glass of water. There are Betta supplies that will actually allow you to keep maintenance to a minimum, yet give your pet a great home.
A Betta fish will thrive in a two to five gallon tank. This is not an expensive upgrade. A tank in this size range will run you $10.00 to $15.00 on average. That isn’t so bad, is it? Your Betta supplies should also include an aquarium filter. The aquarium filter is necessary as a way to keep the tank clean. This will actually make owning a Betta even easier, because you will not have to change the water as often. In a small bowl your Betta’s water should be changed every few days. Now you can wait longer before having to change out the water which equals less maintenance.
Your Betta supplies will need one more basic thing you might not think they need. This would be an aquarium heater. Your Betta prefers a water temperature of 74 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit. In order to keep the temperature within that range, you need an aquarium heater. Again, this will make owning a Betta even easier.
The Betta fish likely requires the least amount of maintenance compared to all other fish you might have as a pet. The Betta is beautiful to watch swim around, their food is inexpensive and they require much less care than other fish. If you keep your Betta in a larger tank and use a heater as well as filtration as part of your regular Betta supplies, you now have the easiest possible pet to care for. Your Betta will be happy with so much room to swim around and you will have plenty of time to watch it, since you won’t be cleaning it’s home as often.
